Ground of our being,
Source of life,
how precious is this breath we breathe
as we come into this world.
How painful it is to let go
of those we love.
There are no words
for the weight of loss,
but inside we hold the memories,
the eternity of love,
the depth of gratitude.
In this quiet moment,
may we feel supported by those who surround us,
may we find a way to give thanks
for the many seasons of life.
As we rise out of the silence,
and open our eyes to each other
may we offer a caring smile.
As we pass the flame
from hand to hand
May its glow warm us again.
May care and support fill this sanctuary
bringing us much needed light.
